She lost both parents to cancer during the mid 90’s and it was here that she first witnessed the value of compassionate touch as comfort care for both patient and family. Her work with Greet The Day is testament to her commitment to pay-forward the kindness shown to her family at that time.
Former board member for the Society for Oncology Massage and the International Society of Oncology Estheticians, her goal is to see survivor safety spa practice standards a reality in every spa, and to see massage and skin care therapists included as the accepted norm in integrative cancer center care.
Johnnette was recognized for her work in the clinical setting with an award from the Women’s Cancer Research Foundation in 2008, and she accepted the Distinguished Service Award on behalf of Greet The Day from the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of California Irvine, CA, in 2013.
In her role with Greet The Day she coordinates and supervises patient service programs for several cancer centers including two southern California academic hospitals, and provides oncology massage and skin care education for community programs and support groups, and CE accredited postgraduate education for nurses, clinicians, and licensed massage and skin care therapists.
